What to know about staying in Cabo San Lucas
All the budget-friendly hotels on our list are in the town of Cabo San Lucas. (For a refresher on the whole resort area, see our post on the difference between Cabo San Lucas and Los Cabos.)
Only one is right on the beach – Riu Santa Fe (see #9).
The rest aren’t beachfront, but they’re close to everything – the Cabo San Lucas Marina (the jumping-off point for winter whale watching tours, sunset cruises and snorkeling trips), bars, Mexican taquerias and other restaurants.
1) Hotel Los Milagros – $

Right in the heart of Cabo San Lucas is Los Milagros, a 12-room, family-run little piece of paradise.
Even though it’s in the thick of it all, there is peace and tranquility here at every step. Palm trees, bright flowers and a peaceful courtyard create an instant “ahhh” moment.
Walk up to the rooftop terrace for a glass of bubbly with a bird’s eye view of the city. Or head to the plunge pool to cool off and relax with a book from their tiny library.

2) Casa Bella Boutique Hotel – $$

Looking for authentic Mexican charm in downtown Cabo San Lucas? Casa Bella Boutique Hotel might steal your heart.
With 14 richly colored rooms, decorated with chunky, rustic wooden furniture and brightly hued accents, the whole place is very cozy and comforting. The rooms are nestled around a beautiful flower-filled courtyard, complete with a small inviting pool.
It’s all so charming, you might not want to leave…

Planning a wedding or other special event? You can rent out the entire hotel, turning it into your own private Mexican hacienda!
One thing to note… Noise from a couple of nearby nightclubs can carry late into the night. The hotel was kind enough to email us this heads-up when we booked (noting they offer earplugs to guests).
We understand most guests aren’t bothered by this, but it’s worth keeping in mind if you’re sensitive to noise.

3) Hotel Los Patios – $ to $$

Every room at the 3-star Hotel Los Patios comes with a patio or balcony – complete with a hammock – and the hotel also has a small outdoor pool for cooling off.
In the shoulder season month of November, you can score a room with a king bed for about $85 a night. (The cost is about $130 in high season.)
It’s located between the Costco and Walmart, so it’s not right downtown (but a short drive away). If you have your own rental car, there’s free parking onsite.
Don’t worry if you don’t have wheels, though. The purple-and-orange Ruta del Desierto public bus stops in front of the hotel and is convenient for getting around Cabo.

4) Siesta Suites – $

It may be one of the cheapest hotels in Cabo San Lucas… But the 2-star Siesta Suite, in the heart of downtown, has a loyal following of repeat guests.
(We’ve stayed here ourselves for a night, when it made sense to fly in a day earlier before moving to our beach accommodation.)
Rooms are simple but comfortable, with cable TV and free WiFi.
The charmingly decorated penthouse is the room to snag if you’re staying a few days or longer. This spacious suite features:
- A full kitchen
- An air-conditioned bedroom with a queen bed
- A bathroom decorated in colorful Mexican tiles
- A huge, partially shaded rooftop patio, complete with a BBQ, hammock, rocking chairs, lounge chairs and outdoor dining furniture

Bonus: The hotel is home to Salvatore G’s, one of Cabo’s most popular Italian restaurants. (Definitely eat here – the portions are huge, reasonably priced and very tasty!)

5) San Angel Suites – $$

Hidden away in the lower Pedregal neighborhood, San Angel Suites stands out as one of the most affordable hotels in Cabo San Lucas that’s quiet and homey.
Each of the 12 air-conditioned suites features a full kitchen with a stove, microwave, fridge and coffee maker.
Some rooms have large balconies for lounging about on, while others have small Juliet balconies.
The centerpiece is a 12-person Jacuzzi nestled in a nicely landscaped courtyard, complete with a BBQ for an evening under the stars.
The central location is great – you’re walking distance to the marina and the center of Cabo San Lucas
Free parking and free WiFi are the cherries on top at this owner-operated haven.
With the kitchens and parking, it’s a great option for budget-conscious travelers staying for a week or longer.

6) Cabo Inn Hotel – $

Have you ever stayed in a former brothel? (We’re going to go with no to that question.)
Well, now you can. Built in 1955 and originally used as a “house of pleasure,” this property was rebranded in 1981 as the quirky budget favorite.
Today’s Cabo Inn Hotel offers two open-air rooftop rooms with palapas and private hot tubs.
These unique indoor-outdoor rooms have a traditional Mexican feel with private patios and mosquito netting over the bed. Since they’re technically outside – and the hotel is in the middle of downtown – it can get noisy, so come prepared with earplugs.
If that’s a little too authentic for your vacation style, the hotel also has cute but simple indoor queen rooms, with colorful painted walls and fun Mexican art.
There are hammocks strewn about the property and so many plants it feels like the jungle. You may also appreciate the free community kitchen.

7) Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa – $$

Overlooking the Cabo San Lucas Marina, the Marina Fiesta Resort & Spa is an intimate all-suite resort offering an all-inclusive option (with food and drinks included).
All rooms come with kitchenettes and private balconies. But of course, if you go all-inclusive, you don’t have to cook.
The guest rooms and suites are a bit tired-looking (and could do with some sprucing up).
But the free-form outdoor swimming pool is a hit. Sip margaritas at the swim-up bar or play Mexican bingo by the pool with other guests.
There are several restaurants on the marina, all just a few minutes’ walk away, where you can eat as part of the all-inclusive plan.
If you go non-inclusive, you can get a good deal on a suite for less than $200 a night. (It’s about $400 a night for two guests for the inclusive plan.)

8) Seven Crown Express & Suites – $

It costs barely $80 a night in high season (and less than $60 a night in low season) to stay at Seven Crown Express & Suites.
Medano Beach (Cabo’s most popular swimmable beach) is a 10-minute walk away.
As part of your stay, free breakfasts are included. But they’re quite simple and nothing really to write home about.
Still, if you’re on a strict budget and other hotels are booked, this is a perfectly good, no-frills option.

9) Riu Sante Fe – $$+

We can’t guarantee it, but this might just be the cheapest all-inclusive resort in Cabo San Lucas.
Part of the Spanish Riu hotel chain, Hotel Riu Sante Fe is a large, lively value-packed property, with tons to keep you busy.
What you get:
- Multiple onsite restaurants and bars
- 24-hour room service
- 10 swimming pools
- A water park with water slides
- A fitness center
- Daily entertainment and activities
Rooms come with a garden view, partial sea view or full-on ocean view. And there are connecting rooms.
Perhaps the best part about staying here is the location – on Medano Beach. If you want to swim in the ocean here and the surf is a bit rough, you might have to walk a bit down the beach (in the direction of the marina) to where the water is calmer.
In high season, all-inclusive rates (including drinks!) go for less than $300 a night for 2 people sharing a room – a solid steal!
