Hola! We’re so glad you’ve popped in to Cabo Visitor!
We’re Janice and George, a couple who visit Cabo so often, it’s like our second home. We know Cabo almost as well as we know each other.
Our quest at Cabo Visitor is to explore everything Cabo has to offer – and share our findings here with you. (To go straight to our blog, start here.)
Uncovering Cabo’s secrets
We won’t stop until we’ve eaten at every restaurant in Cabo San Lucas (and Los Cabos!), squished our toes in the sand on every beach, stayed at (or personally checked out) every resort, gone on every whale watching tour and sunset cruise, sipped margaritas at every bar and lounge – and so much more.
On second thought, hold on to your tacos. Maybe we won’t hit every bar, eatery and hotel.
We’re not spring-breakers, after all. And our tastes do veer toward luxury.
But we also like sussing out authentic experiences, local mom-and-pop restos where the Mexican food is a flavor explosion and affordable boutique hotels, where you can still feel the Old Baja vibe.
Of course, it’s a tall task – this sun, sea and sand destination keeps evolving. New hotels are being built. (Hello Corazon Cabo, you luxe beauty!) New restaurants sprout up. New tours come onstream. (Flyboarding, anyone?)
But we’re having fun working toward our goal!
So are you ready to explore more of Cabo? Then check out our blog!
You can search for information about the destination itself, activities, best places to stay and where to eat. You’ll also find crazy useful Cabo travel planning and other tips in the travel tips section.
Where our Cabo articles have been published
We don’t just live and breathe Cabo every chance we get.
We’re travel journalists and content publishers who’ve also written a ton about Los Cabos over the years for leading U.S. and Canadian magazines and newspapers, as well as for our global luxury travel blog, Sand In My Suitcase.
Here are some older Cabo articles of ours (in the heyday of print travel journalism):
- Grand Velas Raises the Bar in Los Cabos – North Shore News
- Down to an Art: Hotel El Ganzo – TravelAge West
- The Cape: Rooms With a View – TravelAge West
- Baja Moment – Interval World
We’ve also gushed about Cabo as media guests on KPAM Portland radio.
Janice even wrote the #1 best-selling iPhone travel app on Cabo several years ago! (It’s no longer on the market – a tale for another time.)
How did we discover Cabo?
We came across photos of a beautiful quirky resort with thatched palapa roofs on Medano Beach that looked like a sun-kissed dream. Bonus: It was easy to reach from the West Coast.
That was over 20 years ago. George was practising law at the time and Janice (who also started out as a lawyer) was establishing her travel writing career.
Well, we vacationed there and fell in love with the place. (You guessed it, we became time-share owners.)
Other family members started joining us, so they got digs too. And then we started adding on stays at other resorts to extend our time in Cabo – and the rest, as they say, is history!
Since then, we’ve traveled far and wide all over the world. But nothing beats waking up to a Cabo sunrise – and wondering what new adventures the day holds in this special place on the Sea of Cortez.
Professional affiliations
We like to surround ourselves with experts in the travel writing field.
Accordingly, Janice is a member of the Society of American Travel Writers (SATW) and the North American Travel Journalists Association (NATJA).
And we’re both members of the Travel Media Association of Canada (TMAC).
Truth in reporting
As members of the media, we sometimes receive complimentary accommodation or other services so we can review a particular hotel, restaurant or tour. If we’re hosted, we’ll indicate this in the Disclosure at the end of the post.
Receiving a complimentary stay or meal won’t change what we write, however. If the margaritas are watery, the pool music is loud or the service is poor, don’t worry, we’ll let you know.
And if a place or tour falls short on too many benchmarks, we simply won’t cover it on Cabo Visitor. After all, this Cabo travel guide is about the best of Cabo!
Adios! And enjoy Cabo!
