10 Best private boat tours in Los Cabos

We’re longtime and frequent visitors to the Los Cabos area in Baja California Sur – and travel journalists who’ve written scads of magazine and newspaper articles about Los Cabos over the years.

We’ve personally gone on several private boat charters in Cabo San Lucas, both with family and just by ourselves as a couple.

We’ve also done our research and sussed out other great Cabo yacht tours.

This list has something for all – from deluxe sailing tours and a midnight-black, James Bond-style yacht to a chilled houseboat-like tour.

And pssst! Some are less expensive than you might think!

Tours leave from the Cabo San Lucas Marina.

1) Luxury sailing trip to Land’s End with snorkeling

There’s something magical about actually sailing…

And a private sailing tour in Cabo is perhaps the most memorable way to see the iconic rock Arch, Lover’s Beach, the sea lions that bask on the rocks at Land’s End and other attractions at Land’s End.

So feel the breeze in your hair and listen to the luffing of the sails on this true sailing tour on a beautiful 38-foot sailing yacht!

A luxurious sail in Cabo

My husband and I had an amazing time on our sail in Cabo. From the minute we got on the boat we were welcome[d], taken care of, and pampered.

Inga W.

Offered by Cabo Sailing, the tour can take up to 12 guests.

On the 3-hour sailing trip to Land’s End, you’ll sail past the Arch (El Arco), and after taking photos of the amazing rock formations, you’ll anchor at Pelican Rock. The water is about 20 to 25 feet deep here, and it’s a great spot for snorkeling.

The trip includes:

  • Complimentary use of snorkeling gear and SUP boards
  • Fresh clean towels (so you don’t have to bring your own)
  • Use of wetsuits in the winter time (the water can be a tad chilly)
  • An open bar
  • A light lunch on morning and mid-day tours – chips, salsa and guacamole, fresh baguette sandwiches, fresh cut fruit and dessert
  • Snacks and appies on sunset cruises

You can choose a morning, mid-day or sunset departure time.

It turned out to be one of our favorite sunset cruises in Cabo!

2) Luxury power yacht cruise to Santa Maria or Chileno Bay

Feel like the Queen or King of the seas as you step onboard the luxurious power yacht, the 40-foot Liberty, operated by Book Now Adventures.

Having won a 2022 TripAdvisor Traveler’s Choice award, Book Now Adventures is at the top of its game when it comes to private Cabo San Lucas boat tours.

We felt like royalty

Absolutely amazing! We had a private yacht and felt like royalty! Our captain and crew were phenomenal and met needs we didn’t even know we had.

On this tour, you’ll depart the Cabo San Lucas Marina and embark on a 4-hour excursion, cruising past Land’s End and venturing either to Santa Maria Beach or Chileno Bay.

What’s really cool? It’s one of the only Cabo boat tours where you can try your hand at fishing as you’re cruising.

Then when you anchor, you can don snorkeling gear and jump into the water to find tropical fish. Alternatively, just enjoy the boat’s unlimited drinks, snacks and views of the coast!

We enjoyed this boat tour with nine family members recently, leaving the marina at 8:00 am and returning about 1:00 pm.

As we cruised along, the crew flung rods into the water and waited for fish to take the bait. We caught a couple of dorado – the crew offered to cook them up on the boat for fish tacos for lunch, but we decided to release them back into the sea instead.

This tour also happens to be one of the best Cabo snorkeling tours, thanks to the high-quality equipment on the boat. Some of us went snorkeling at Chileno Bay to see what was underwater, while others tried out stand-up paddleboarding.

Back onboard, we sipped on margaritas and grazed on chicken enchiladas before docking back in sunny Cabo!

This tour is more than just a boat ride. A top-tier yachting experience, it’s a decadent mix of fine cuisine, fun water activities with cool water toys and stellar service.

Top tier service

Once in a life time opportunity. First class services; knowledgeable, joyous staff; and incredible dining experience. Can’t recommend them enough!

TripAdvisor reviewer (2023)

The sleek black 108-foot Neoprene power yacht is air-conditioned inside and has four staterooms, a master suite, a dining zone, a lounge area, sun pads and outdoor dining space.

It also includes a “beach club” onboard and a swimming platform.

Delight in custom-made meals (fresh local seafood?) whipped up by a personal chef and served by professional staff. The open bar, under the care of a personal bartender, ensures the cocktails keep coming.

This uber-exclusive yacht also doubles as an aquatic adventure zone, as it’s packed with kayaks, snorkel gear, paddleboards and even a Seabob underwater scooter.

The Neoprene accommodates up to 20 people comfortably, making it ideal for a group excursion. But, it can also serve as a close-knit tour if you prefer to invite only a few special guests.

You can book a 3-hour experience or charter the boat for the day.

This 5-star yacht tour includes:

  • An open bar with top-shelf liquor
  • Personal bartender
  • Private chef
  • A delicious lunch
  • Use of water toys, including a Seabob

With a beautiful yacht, a reliable team and tasty food and drinks, it’s no surprise that this yacht tour is one of the absolute best boat charters Cabo San Lucas offers.

4) Chillaxing comfort on houseboat-like La Isla

There’s fun for everyone! (Credit: La Isla)

Do you love the idea of a boat trip, but your tummy doesn’t love the actual boating? Take a look at La Isla’s chillaxin’ 4-hour private boat tour – one of the most chilled-out (and stable) ways to take to the water!

Sort of like a houseboat, La Isla is a super-comfy, flat-top vessel.

It moves slowly and doesn’t go far – it just putters along the water to Land’s End so you can see the famous Arch of Cabo San Lucas and Pelican Rock. Then it just floats or anchors in the water near Lover’s Beach (Playa del Amor), one of the best swimmable beaches in Cabo.

What’s cool? Bring your own playlist to listen to your own music on Bluetooth through their excellent sound system.

And you can also bring your own drinks onboard – which definitely helps to keep costs down. (And you get to drink your favorite libations.).

Fun in Cabo

We had the best time on this private boat tour. Three families (9 of us) and a boat all to ourselves. The crew was amazing and the captain’s guacamole was the best.

Lyn G.

The La Isla tour includes:

  • Welcome margaritas
  • Snorkeling equipment and stand-up paddleboards
  • Large floating mats
  • Cooler filled with bottled water, soft drinks and ice
  • Chips and salsa
  • Option to upgrade your package for an additional cost to include an open bar, taco bar, “the best guacamole in Cabo” and more

This particular tour boat accommodates up to 15 people.

It doesn’t go very far. Think of this custom-made catamaran as your floating home-away-from-home for half a day, with couches, a coffee table, plenty of shade and a spacious and clean bathroom.

5) Splurge! Private luxury tour on a 50-foot French sailboat

Cabo Adventures is the leader of the game when it comes to tours in Cabo – they’re the biggest tour company in Los Cabos. (We’ve done a few tours with them, including ziplining.)

They operate a deluxe, 50-foot French sailboat for private sailing adventures for up to 15 guests. It’s ideal for bachelorette parties, birthday celebrations or larger groups.

Their 4-hour Cabo yacht tours are super-inclusive. Unlike some other private boat tours, they even include hotel pick-up and drop-off.

Sit on the boat’s bow as you tuck into shrimp and dip, while sipping on a margarita (or your drink of choice), enjoying the experience of sailing with the wind. Keep an eye out for dolphins and (in winter) whales!

When the boat anchors in a protected bay – after snorkeling and swimming – feast on a full lunch, perhaps ceviche or fresh Italian pasta.

Wow! A must-do in Cabo

An absolutely fantastic experience! We received incredible and upbeat service. We were celebrating my son’s 18th birthday with a bunch of his friends and a few parents. The drinks were good, the food was delicious, and the experience was worth every penny.
